Quick Start Guide

Mixtile Edge 2 is a high-performance, interface-rich ARM64 single board computer that targets a wide range of IoT networking and computing applications.

Mixtile Edge 2 Kit adds a customizable enclosure and two external Wi-Fi antennas based on Edge 2.

This document describes how to set up connections for Mixtile Edge 2 and Mixtile Edge 2 Kit.

Preparations

Besides the packaged items, you also need to prepare the following accessaries before using Mixtile Edge 2 or Edge 2 Kit:

  • Power adapter
    • A 12 V power adapter with a current of 2 A or more is recommended.

Note: Edge 2 has a standard Type-C port, which supports a relatively large charging current. The Type-C

power adapter should support PD3.0 or PD2.0.

  • Monitor and HDMI cable
    • A monitor with HDMI 2.0 port is recommended.
  • Keyboard and mouse
    • Standard USB keyboard and mouse or Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse
  • USB to UART adapter (optional)

Setting Up Mixtile Edge 2

Connecting to display

An HDMI port on Mixtile Edge 2 allows you to send HD audio and video to a monitor or screen for software operation and customization.

  1. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of your Edge 2.
  2. Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of the monitor or screen.

Note: If you’re using an HDMI display without speakers, you may also need some form of sound hardware. Audio can be played by connecting speakers or headphones to the HP microphone. However, the speakers must have their own power supply.

Connecting to network

Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of Edge 2 and connect the other end to a router.

Connecting a mouse and a keyboard

Edge 2 has three USB 3.0 interfaces, which can be used to connect a mouse and a keyboard.

Connecting to power

Connect one end of the Type-C cable to the adapter and the other end to the POWER port of Edge 2. The system starts automatically and you will hear a beep. The power indicator is steady green.

On the left, there is a U.2 interface; on the right, there is a DC 12V power port and a SATA power socket.

Installing antennas

  1. Unpack the box and place Edge 2 Kit on a table so that you can easily view the upside location of antenna connectors.
  2. Remove the rubber protective covers from the two antenna connectors.
  3. Install the antennas by screwing them in clockwise direction and position them upwards.

Connecting to display
