Alexa skill for Mixtile is now available!

Mixtile Hub now works with Alexa

Alexa skill for Mixtile

In the past few months, we’ve been developing and testing the Alexa skill for Mixtile Hub. Today we are happy to announce that Mixtile Hub now works with any Alexa-compatible devices. Using this skill, you can use Alexa to control the devices you have connected to the Mixtile Hub. For example, if you have a Z-Wave connected to the Mixtile Hub, you can call your Alexa device “Alexa, unlock the front door.”

Why use this skill?

With the exception of the Amazon Echo Plus, all the Amazon Alexa devices can only control Wi-Fi devices (Echo Plus also supports the Zigbee protocol.) With the Alexa skill for Mixtile, any of your Alexa devices can be used to control Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Z-Wave devices. In other words, your Alexa device can speak 2 more smart home “languages”.

(Zigbee and Z-wave are the two most popular wireless communication protocols designed for home automation. They use lower power consumption, support mesh network, and they don’t reduce your download speed. To learn more about why smart Wi-fi devices are limited, click here.)
